This I Believe: Writing Process
Sabatino: Can you describe the scene(s) where you wrote the This I Believe (TIB) essay. Be descriptive. Is this sustainable?
Writer: I wrote my TIB essay in my girlfriends bedroom. Its a place that i feel comfortable at away from home. I do believe it is a sustainable environment that i will also use in the future for upcoming projects as well.
Sabatino: You wrote a blog post about six strategies to become a better writer. Have you used those strategies when blogging and writing the TIB essay? Please discuss which of these strategies helped you the most when you wrote your TIB essay?
Writer:
Sabatino: Describe your process for writing and revising the TIB essay (freewrite, list, found poem, etc.). What helped you the most?
Writer: I actually did not use a freewrite, or an outline to start my TIB essay. I plunged in just as Peter Elbow described in this clip. check it out. Peter Elbow on Writing
Sabatino: How has the blog impacted your writing process?
Writer: I think the blog has helped me to step outside of my comfort zone as more of a public writer. I have always been very private with my writing but Blogging has shown me that being public is a great way to express your thoughts and feeling rather than keeping everything to yourself.
Sabatino: Please share your thoughts about the revision techniques we've used in this course (peer review, show and tell, five senses, found poem, etc.)
Writer: I think that the revision techniques worked like a charm. They served there purpose in making you re-think and revise. Nobody is perfect, and neither is writing so there is always something you can improve on.
Sabatino: What specific revisions have you made to your TIB essay?
Writer: So far i have added more dialogue.
Sabatino: What is your plan for future revisions to your TIB essay?
Writer: I plan on being more descriptive with senses and also add more color to liven up my story.
Sabatino: We have used a farming metaphor to conceptualize a sustainable writing process. What metaphor would you use to illustrate your writing process thus far?
Writer: I would say my process in writhing thus far is as when Micheal Jordan had left the NBA to play baseball in the MLB. I was previously a very comfortable private writer in which I felt I was very good at and in-tune with my thoughts and feelings. but now i'm transitioning to become more of a public writer and i'm learning to like it.
This I Believe: Writing Product
Sabatino: What is your belief statement (word-for-word)?
Writer: God bless the child that can hold his own.
Sabatino: Do you think your belief statement grabs the audience’s attention? Why?
Writer: Yes I do, otherwise I would not have used it as my STATEMENT. I think people would like to read on because there are a lot of possible things and meaning that can come after a statement like that.
Sabatino: What is your scene?
Writer: A workplace. Harpat flooring company.
Sabatino: How does your scene illustrate your belief?
Writer: I chose to become independent that summer and wanted to get a job. God blessed me with the ability to be able to get a job working with my father learning a trade.
Sabatino: What questions do you have for me about your TIB essay?
Writer: One question would be that if you think am being frank enough. sometimes being straight foreward with things is a good thing. i believe i did so.
